The proceedings are initiated at the request of an heir and are conducted before the district court having jurisdiction over the last place of residence of the deceased. After examining the documents and hearing the participants, the court issues a decision that serves as official confirmation of inheritance rights.<\/p><p class=\"translation-block\">The entire procedure usually takes from several weeks to several months \u2013 depending on the number of heirs and the complexity of the case. An alternative to court proceedings is a certificate of inheritance drawn up by a notary public, which is possible when all heirs are in agreement.<\/p><p><strong>My role as an attorney in inheritance proceedings<\/strong><\/p><p>As an attorney, I can conduct the entire inheritance procedure on behalf of the heir \u2013 especially when the heir resides abroad and is unable to come to Poland. In practice, this means that I:<\/p><ul><li>prepare and file the application for confirmation of inheritance acquisition,<\/li><li>represent the client before the court, participating in hearings on their behalf,<\/li><li>ensure that all necessary documents are collected (civil status records, wills, land and mortgage register extracts),<\/li><li>obtain a final court decision confirming inheritance rights,<\/li><li>deliver a copy of the ruling to the client, enabling them to dispose of the inherited assets.<\/li><\/ul><p class=\"translation-block\">Thanks to a notarial power of attorney, a person living outside of Poland can handle all formalities remotely, while I take care of legal representation in Poland.
