Confirmation of Inheritance Acquisition

The confirmation of inheritance acquisition is a formal court confirmation of who inherits from the deceased and in what proportion. The proceedings are initiated at the request of an heir and are conducted before the district court having jurisdiction over the last place of residence of the deceased. After examining the documents and hearing the participants, the court issues a decision that serves as official confirmation of inheritance rights.

The entire procedure usually takes from several weeks to several months – depending on the number of heirs and the complexity of the case. An alternative to court proceedings is a certificate of inheritance drawn up by a notary public, which is possible when all heirs are in agreement.
